On a cold and very windy day, 318 brave runners ran in the Blacksburg Classic’s 30th edition. The first race of the 2015 RunAbout Race Series presented by Carilion Clinic drew 182 runners that finished the 10 miler, while 136 runners finished the 5K and have one race finish towards earning the 2015 Race Series sweatshirt. Edward Dickenson, 51, won the 5K going away in 17:44. Kirsten Beaudry placed third overall and won the women’s division in 19:16. In the 10 miler, four men broke one hour. Patrick Woodford held off Max Werner winning in 57:09 to Max’s 57:29. Quinn Thomas and Andrew Parkins also broke the one hour mark. In the women’s race, Ann McGranahan Thomas and Mina DeMarco ran the closest women’s race in 15 years.
